Real Anatomy of technologyTechnology is a huge part of the world right now. whether you believe that technology is a good or bad thing there is no denying it is running the world right now. Technology is huge, people have become dependent on it and that is how I wanted my art to be viewed. Tiktok, Instagram, Snapchat, and VSCO are very popular social medias right now. I feel as if many people, especially teenagers and young adults have too many attachments on this apps. Its come to the point where people base their personalities on social media and others they see on social media. As much as social media can be fun and exciting there is a large downfall too it. A lot of things on social media are fake and seeing this stuff can effect how viewers see themselves. What I am trying to express in my art is how social media and technology is running our lives right now and how much of an impact it has on us even if you cant see its effects.
Automatic DrawingWith this project we were given complete freedom to do whatever we wanted as a way to express ourselves. When I started I wasnt sure what I was doing or what I wanted from it but I just rolled with it. I started out with mixing the orange background because I knew I wanted some sort of color in it and I feel like This orange sunset looking color gives happy good vibes. The second part I added was the black, I wanted the black to somehow blend into the orange as a way to show how happy and sad blend together. I want it to represent how easily these two emotions can come together and how it is possible to go from happy to sad. After finishing this piece I realized that it also kinda looks like the trees in "the Lorax" after they all died, which just happens to be one of my favorite movies so I thought that was cool. Even though this is a piece of art that you would read about and think that it would be easy to do I actually found this to be one of the hardest we have done this year because there are no instructions, everything has to come from you.
THE VALUE OF WORDS The value of words project has been my favorite so far because I feel like it allowed me to express myself more. There wasnt a certain drawing we had to make we got to choose something that is personal or meaningful to ourselves. There has always been this one song lyric that always stood out to me and thats what I chose to create. Lil Peep is the artist I drew in this picture, he has a song called star shopping, which is where the lyrics are from. The lyrics are "All of the stars have a reason." I feel like these are simple but very meaning lyrics. Everything is drawn with these lyrics, except for the tattoos and the stars and moon, The stars are made out of the word moon and the stars are made out of the word star. The lyrics are written out over and over again in the background. I wanted to kinda show some dimension so as the lyrics got closer to the bottom of the page they got bigger to make it look the lyrics at the top are essentially in the sky with the moon and stars. I spent many hours working on this drawing because I wanted it to be perfect, or at least as close to perfect as I could get it. This was definitely one of the harder projects we have done so far this year but it is still my favorite because i like how it is personalized to myself. STILL LIFE I started the process of my still life with making the background. I choose to make my background the sky because I love the sky. No matter what time of day or where you are the sky will always be beautiful. I then added a picnic table to paint my objects onto because when I was younger I would always eat my food outside on the picnic table. Eating supper at the picnic table with my family is one of my favorite memories as a child. The first object I choose to add to my still life is a pot of daisies. Ive always loved, receiving them is one of my favorite things in the world. Daisies imparticular have always stuck out to me. The beauty and simplicity of them is what makes them special. White is one of my favorite colors which is why I choose to put the daisies in a white pot. The pot is simple and plain white with a little grey on the edges to add contrast and match the simplicity I see in daisies. I contemplated for awhile what I wanted my last object to be. After thinking for a long time I decided to add a blue butterfly sitting on a little pile of rocks. Im not the biggest fan of insects but butterflies are an exception. My late aunt loved butterflies, she had them everywhere. Sometimes when I see butterflies they remind me of her. I added the butterfly in honor of her. ART FOR A CHANGE From the begining I knew what I wanted to do for this assignment I just didnt know how I was going to create it. I decided that over the past two years protest have been a very big thing to our nation and that is how I wanted to represent my art for change. Essentially what my piece is is a combination of all the different protest signs we have seen over the years that I believe to be very important. I started out by drawing a whole bunch of faceless people who are holding signs representing something that they care about. I didnt want to give the people faces or real skin color because each belief does not belong to one certain type of person. Once you start getting farther back into the crowd of protesters the colors start blending together as a way of showing the crowd all coming together as one to fight for what they believe in. The bright colors eventually start mixing into a big black nothingness, which I used to express how these people are going unheard; Their voices falling into darkness. Im not one to share my beliefs on this sort of thing but It is something I think is very important and more light needs to be shed on it, change needs to happen. |
